The brief was to design a modern family house that would be minimalist, yet possess a sense of character and fit into the surrounding development. After exploring several options—including a modest renovation of the existing house—we, together with the client, decided to reduce the building’s volume and introduce a flat roof. This decision was primarily driven by the originally large size of the house, which the client would not fully utilize, as well as by the high costs of construction, heating, and maintenance.
