Three Gables
The design brief called for a contemporary residence that ensures family privacy while seamlessly integrating with an existing barn, which the owners intend to repurpose as a clubhouse. Although the original house was demolished, portions of the walls and the cellar—suitable for use as a wine cellar—have been preserved. These remaining above-ground walls function as a visual barrier between the house, the road, and the neighbors, away from whom the building is oriented. The central concept revolves around the connection of the two volumes—the house and the barn—forming a sheltered terrace at their heart. This space is defined by three gables: those of the new residence, the existing barn, and the barn on the adjacent property.
